Any word used to qualify a verb is an adverb.
I never eat cheese. Never adds to the verb Eat
Adverbs are ususully easier to identify because the majority end in ly... Usually added meaning to Are in that sentence.
Using too many adverbs is evidence of poor writing, but some are necessery.
