    what do you need to get a passport

    Generally, you need proof of who you are and date of birth, maybe your birth certificate. I'm in Australia so I don't know about the US.

    Social Security card and birth certificate, valid drivers license for proof of address.
    In Australia you need a copy of your actual birth certificate not a extract, the whole kit and kaboodle, other forms of ID drivers licence, rates notice, medicare cad, a pasport sized photo, I think four photos signed on the back by some one who has known you for years> "This is a true representation of Charlie Bloggs whom I have known for five years" The signatory of the photos MUST be a registered voter in Australia.

    And a swag of money, I have had mine for ages but I think it is over $200 today.

    A copy of your birth certificate, and two pieces of I.D.(social insurance card, drivers licence,health care card will work) with your signature. I am divorced with sole custody so for my kids I had to bring my court documents including proof of my divorce as well.
