    What is a torque converter?

    It is a power transfer device to bring power from the engine to the transmission. There is usually a fluid between the turbines.

    think of it like this:

    You have two fans facing each other, one fan is powered (engine) the other is not powered (transmission) The powerd fan will blow forced air to the non powerd one making the blades spin. You passed the power from one to the other without mechanical means-- Just air flowing.

    The Torque Converter is a part in the car, or truck's Transmission.It sets behind the flywheel,and is about 4" thick,and holds fluid,ETC...................
