      Is it a red spider or a red lily beetle? They have a hard red shell about 1/8 of an inch long and when you try to pick them off they fall on the ground and try to bury themselves.

      Malathion (strong but the only thing that works).

        Every year THOUSANDS of these little tiny red spiders hatch here (NC) and they are everywhere. Don't bite but creep me out because they crawl all over you even if you sit on an outdoor chair.
        Most are gone within a week.

        I'm sure the Lillies hate them too. They will just have to wait it out.
