    Why the goverment charges taxes on social security to the eldersly?

    I'm a 76 years old retiree on social security and also a retirement from the Houston Chronicle newspaper of which I worked
    about 40 years.

        Because they can. Contact your state senator and congressman and ask them why their are part of the scheme to steal from the elderly.

            If you have income above a certain level, they will charge taxes on that. I don't agree with it, but the gov always goes after the most vulnerable for their revenues.

              UNFORTUNITLY FOR YOU ITS CONSIDERED INCOME.....................
              THAT INCOME IN WHICH I PAID TAXES FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS OF WORK. I
              HAVE BEEN AROUND THE WORLD AND THIS IS THE ONLY CONTRY THAT, NOW, ABUSES THEIR CITIZENS LIKE THAT, IT DID'NT HAPPENS BEFORE.

                  They take it from the eldery and cut Taxes for the Rich. Big Corporations like GE with 14 Billion Dollars in Profit paid no Taxes. Greed and Corruption
                  are ruling our country.

                  The US braggs of democracy but when they do
                  this double taxation and cut taxes to the very rich which is less than 2% of the population is not very fair at all, What do you think?
