    can you use bleach if you are on a septic tank?

    Yes, I use bleach and it works well. However the tank does not digest toilet paper, diapers or plastic. If you fill the tank with those products you may need to pump it out occasionally.
    Not a good idea, bleach kills the bugs that digest the crap. Use a product like Eparcyl, that is what we use here in France and the 'fosse septique' (septic tank)never smells.
    Nomdeplume is correct. Never put bleach or any antibacterial in a septic system. The only thing that should go down the drain is organic matter such as your bodily wastes, and septic approved toilet paper.
