the same reason men should be respected by women. all men/women were created equal. mutual respect is a foundation for a true relationship. i personaly treat any women like i would my mom with the utmost respect and love, they are our equels in love and war, through thick and thin. without woman you cant have man, without man you cant have women without god you cant have either!

One reason is because they are the ones who are suffering in giving birth to the babies, they are the ones who mostly do all the housework, teach the kids, make food, help them grow up, But men should be respected as well as they are the ones who are the sole providers for the family's income and sustenance. So dual respect is the answer :)
