    What causes humans, partucually men to pronouce the letter R as the letter W ie Wed Wabbit instead of Red Rabbit?

    I blame Elmer Fudd.
    Some culture have difficulties pronouncing the sound of a letter especially if that particular letter or sound is not a part of their language or speech process. I can't roll an R for the life of me like the Spanish language does. I'm sure the word sounds funny to them when the R is not rolled.
    I believe if you know the location of Barbara Walters upbringing, that would be the area that this accent comes from...

    Barbara Walters was born on September 5, 1929 in Boston, MA. She grew up in New York City and Miami Beach, FL.

    That still may not explain her accent, children learn speech from their parents, so that probably has more of an effect on her accent than where she grew up. Most likely Boston, MA...
