i LOVE koontz. he's on my wave length. i like the way he uses words and i believe he always has a dog as one of the main characters-a golden. koontz lives in my area of california and that makes his stories even more interesting. i think stephen king is similar but king uses rock 'n roll music and more humor. (love king too ... but my date for the junior prom, koontz! koontz' dog is named trixie,

Well, they're not the same but I like the agent Pendergast series of books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child ( "Relic", "Cabinet Of Curiosities", "Brimstone", "Dance Of Death", "The Book Of The Dead"- these last three are part of a trilogy. "The Wheel Of Darkness" is pretty creepy too but I would suggest starting with Relic. I did not mention all of the books in this series, but if you like Relic (which was made into a not very good film) then you can take things from there.
