    The same has happend to my HP i have tried just about everything i could think of to restore the sound. I still have sound on my headphone socket so will try to conect my speakers though the headphone socket, will let you know if it works

      go to the HP web site and down load the driver program, if that doesn't work you may have a hardware issue.
