Be sure you're not insulin-resistant. If you are, then whenever you eat carbs (even complex carbohydrates like baked potatoes), then your body is storing the calories as fat instead of burning them off. I would concentrate on eating a good breakfast, definitely (like oatmeal or eggs and fruit), and try eating salads with low-fat meats like checken or turkey. Skip any high-fat add-ons like cheese (cottage cheese would be good, though). Personally, I won't eat low-fat dressings, because they replace the fat with sugars, and yur body needs a certain amount of fat intake to function optimally. Once you start losing weight, you can slowly re-introduce carbs. Also, cut out all refined sugars, like candy, cake pies, and sodas. Diet drinks are okay. You also need to add muscle to your body, so lift weights; muscle takes up less room and burns more calories than fat does.
