Which VPN setup actually gets YouTube and video calls working again?

I moved to a country where YouTube keeps buffering and video calls with my family drop after a few seconds. I tried three free extensions and all of them were either unusable or asked for a card. A friend told me the fix is a normal VPN with a one-click setup, and pointed me at BrodVPN as an example of what he meant. Before I commit to anything I would like to hear from people who solved this: what do you actually check when you pick a VPN for streaming and calls?
