My flight arrives at Schiphol late in the evening, and my next flight isn't until morning, so I'm looking for a hotel near the airport to avoid traveling into the city and back. However, there are so many options that I'm not sure what to look for when choosing one.

I’ve been in this situation few times. The first time, I stayed at the airport and didn’t sleep at all because it was too crowded and noisy. The second time, I booked a room at CitizenM, which was much better. There are plenty of guides about Amsterdam Airport (AMS) covering restaurants, hotels, and so on, and I chose this particular hotel through one of those guides. CitizenM is connected directly to the terminal via a walkway, so you don't have to go outside at all, which is invaluable when you arrive after midnight with heavy luggage. I also considered Yotel. It's also inside the airport, and you can book a room for just a few hours instead of a full day. Which would be ideal for you.

First and foremost, I want to know if there’s a free shuttle between the hotel and the terminal because I don't want to worry about transportation after a long flight at night. It’s also important to me to be able to check in late and check out early without being charged extra, since my schedule is tight—I arrive at 11:00 p.m., and my flight leaves at 7:30 a.m. Are there any hotels that understand the needs of guests like me and don’t charge for a full night’s stay just for a few hours of sleep?
