Most insurance companies only go back as far as 10 years for your medical history. I keep them on hand for that. Easy reference so I don't have to call my doctor to get information such as dates for surgeries or treatments. There will always be copies of any medical records on file at your doctor's office or any hospital you've gone to. So keep them as long as you feel comfortable with having them around. If you shred any of them, you can always get another copy if needed.
