I started getting calls from Chapman & Intrieri, LLP a few weeks ago about an old debt. At first I wasn’t sure who they were, so I looked them up. They seem to be a law firm that focuses on debt collection and even sues people over unpaid accounts.
They’ve been pretty persistent, and honestly it’s stressful not knowing if this could lead to a lawsuit or wage garnishment down the road. I requested a debt validation letter to make sure the debt is actually mine and that they have the right to collect it. Still waiting on that.
From what I’ve read, they are based in California but handle collection in multiple states. I also checked my credit report to see if the debt is listed correctly. No errors so far, but I’m trying to figure out my next move – settlement, payment plan, or just waiting to see if the statute of limitations has run out.
Has anyone else received calls from them? How did you handle it? Did they end up suing? Any advice would help.
