Horological conservation is relatively new. When I link received link my master's in horological conservation, there were three of us in the world with that certification: my tutor, link a fellow classmate, and myself. The standard practices of any discipline change with time, as new technology, research, and materials come to light. The field and its practices will continue to improve, as long as the hand skills needed to do the work well are treated with as much care and respect as the objects themselves.
