It gives the watch a certain classic, almost antiquey, feel without the need to use faux-aging techniques. link This Santos Dumont would be as at home in the early 1900s as it is today. But this is not to say that link it looks old. In fact, the sheen of the lacquer on both the dial and link the bezel gives it a specific, modern sportiness that we typically only see on the traditional Santos models. But it's not an aggressive look.

I also recall having to make a jewel for a detent link in an Arnold chronometer. The Arnold detent escapement is a bit different than other detent escapements, so the link jewel shape is very specific. Try finding a drawing or reference of what exactly that link should look like.
