If you are a frequent reader of Fratello – or a vintage Omega fan in general – you probably know that the 321 is a Lemania (caliber 2310) movement. The case is combined with a matte silver-gray dial featuring the Defy link Skyline's signature star pattern. As you'd expect, the watch is accompanied by a Patek Philippe box, along with a recently issued Extract from the Archives confirming its date of manufacture, date of sale, and specifications. European Watch Company in Boston has this ref. 3448 listed at $209,000. See the full listing here.Editor's Note: The price of this watch has been updated since the original publishing of this story.
Blingy, bad taste, bi-metal, quartz, or me-too automatics are just some of the characteristics that come link to mind to describe the era.CURIC: I really personally appreciate vintage Rolex; the Submariner is one of my all-time favorites. I really like the Panerai Luminors and was fascinated by the story of the Italian Navy. I think every designer has the TAG Heuer Monaco. And then IWC, I really appreciate their movements. I also like some of the newer brands like Bell & Ross. And then of course the timepieces from Shinola. My favorite adventure watch is a vintage Panerai Luminor that my dad "lent" me and has never left my personal collection. I love that I can go surf with it, wear it to any fancy event, and rock it casually as well. It’s way too big for my very dainty wrist, but I love it, nonetheless.
Jump onto link Chrono24 or eBay, do the searches for vintage 'Rolex Daytona' (or 'Submariner'), 'Omega Speedmaster,' and 'Breitling Navitimer,' and then try 'Heuer Autavia' or 'Carrera,' and the number of vintage Heuers offered for sale at any time will be very small compared to the other brands. But if we sub-categorize sports watches there is an overall multi-color winner in my opinion: regatta watches. But I think the biggest takeaway for us all was the intense sense of community at Dubai Watch Week. Truth be told, it’s not a market that we here in the U.S. are often exposed to, but it was clear that the watch community is very strong in Dubai and DWW is very much a big reason for that.
