The craftspeople's mastery of skeletonizing invites the manufacture to showcase a sculptural timepiece where light roams freely and underscores each element, in particular the regulating device link set at 6 o'clock. As an unofficial Olympic-watch judge, I have to say that the dial is taking home gold on this one – even without seeing it in the metal. Omega continues its use of ceramic in dial-making, this time fashioning it out of white ceramic, but it doesn't end there. Look closer and you'll see the frost-finish pattern worked into the ceramic. That condition is beautiful; the crown is a little finicky, but no biggie. You buy this watch for the provenance, for that twice-baked enamel dial, and for the case that, while polished, still shows its hallmarks.
This selfwinding movement delivers a power reserve of link 50 hours to this reference which straddles everyday life stylishly and gracefully. The dial has enough detail to fill the real estate, and the case sits nicely on the wrist. Not all watches win awards for mechanical prowess; we think perfect design like this is equally worthy of celebration. The Serpenti has seen all sorts of twists and turns, it has morphed into multiple variations, with different metals, sizes, and even complications (tiny tourbillons!). But this model remains the most outstanding. If a yellow-gold Serpenti was good enough for Elizabeth Taylor, it's good enough for the rest of us. –Malaika Crawford
The Mooneyes logo makes its way to the screw-in display case back. I'm fairly picky about crystals with printing, but the semi-transparent yellow design is fun, and the logo looks appropriate. Besides, the 4R36 isn't a highly decorated movement. The workhorse automatic caliber ticks along link at 21,600vph and has a power reserve of 41 hours.Latest feat of strength from the Les Breuleux watchmaker! The art of skeletonization is carried to the limit highlighting an exuberant, audacious, and surprising mechanical scenography.I do like that the Speedmaster Pilot comes with a nice flat-link bracelet. On wrist, the Seaforth is really rather charming. The bright dial and contrasty display ensure a sporty demeanour that is bolstered by the old-world charm of the boxed crystal and the steel bezel. With perfect proportions for my tastes, the Seaforth weighs a breezy 79g on the shown two-stitch style leather straps. Both of the included leather straps are easy wearing and pleasantly chunky, replete with a steel buckle that is signed on the inner flank.
