Although Ming has made extensive use of titanium as a case material in the past, the new 27.01 is in stainless steel, as his feeling was that making the watch in titanium would provide less tactile satisfaction (I am inclined to agree – a watch with too little felt presence on the wrist can be a bit unsettling).
The large Santos-Dumont Squelette's square case with its softened angles imposes generous dimensions (43x31mm), and is accompanied by a screwed bezel and a circular-grained crown punctuated by a blue cabochon.Anyway, no need for link this hassle with Ulysse Nardin's annual calendar of their Marine Chronograph.Reza is certainly a top-tier collector, and more than that, he's one heck of a nice guy. He also makes some points about why he's so enthralled with the deep divers versus the other Rolex sports watches out there that I've not heard before. Overall, it's a fascinating collection.
