Can I use standard plumbing store filters for my lab system?

This is generally not recommended and can be risky. While hardware store filters might fit the tubing size, they are not manufactured to the same standards as laboratory-grade pretreatment filters.

    1. Purity: Standard filters may contain additives, binders, or manufacturing residues that can leach back into the water, introducing contaminants (like phosphates or organics) that your main system isn't designed to handle.

    2. Performance: They may not have the same chlorine removal capacity or particle retention rating.

    3. Sanitation: Lab-grade cartridges are often manufactured in cleaner conditions to prevent introducing bacteria. It is always safer to use cartridges certified and recommended by your lab water system manufacturer (like Molgene or Molro) to ensure compatibility and protect the integrity of your research.
