No mass-produced movement outside of Rolex comes close to matching their quality, durability, and reliability. They have come terribly close to defining the epitome of what a perfectly conceived mechanical watch movement should be.Traditionally, the two-register ref. 3646 Autavia is less attractive to collectors than the three-register equipped ref. 2446. But that all changes with a logo dial. And it especially changes with racing provenance. Two other motor/age Autavias sit in the TAG Heuer Museum archives. The estimate is $15,000 to $30,000.
But the best feature of the Bulova Wrist Alarm is the link alarm function, of course. Imagine my excitement when my friend showcased this feature when I sat down to spend time with the watch. There is something quite enchanting about mechanical alarm watches, perhaps because the concept is quite anachronistic (but somewhat romantic) now.These calibers combine traditional Seiko chronograph features, such as a column wheel, vertical coupling, and the Magic Lever winding system.Surrounding the dial and securing a double-domed sapphire crystal is a unidirectional bezel, complete with 1972 styling and 60-minute diving scale. The bezel's primarily black colorway and somewhat matte look contrast sharply against the traffic-cone-orange dial it outlines. Applied opaque hour markers, large baton-esque hour and minute hands, and a unique crosshair at the center add definition.
