If the dark waters of a pond can inspire a watch, what about the pond's most memorable inhabitants? Japanese carp, or nishikigoi (錦鯉), have provided visual stimulation and relaxation to viewers for centuries. This self-winding movement is housed in a 46mm stainless steel case and protected by a solid case back with a scuba-diver motif. The sapphire-crystal link caseback invites to admire the luxurious decorations and finishes of the caliber components.Though Renier sees the Reverso, of all the watches produced by JLC, as the most symbolically important, she stresses that it exists in the larger context of diversity in watchmaking at JLC – a diversity which in its breadth of expression rivals any other watchmaking firm, and which is especially represented by the enormous number of different movements the company has made since Antoine LeCoultre established his first small workshop in 1833.
This self-winding mechanism, equipped with a silicon balance spring, is insensitive to magnetic fields and, as its replique montre de luxe légal name suggests, offers a power reserve of 80 hours.Impressively, 646 angles exist among the components, and all are hand-finished.There are two instances in which collaborations or partnerships get me excited. The first is when they make absolutely perfect sense because of shared values and kinship, like the watch featured here, and the other scenario is when they seemingly make no sense at all in the most charming way possible, like military-focused Marathon and J. Crew watch I wrote about last year.
Always a lover of freedom, the avant-garde watchmaker unveils a new, men used rolex watches very exclusive edition with an architectural face enhanced with bright yellow, and made of titanium and Carbonium®, a technical material that is as light as it is resistant. In the spring of this year, I had the chance to handle the two colorful critters briefly, and they both made quite an impression. It delivers a comfortable power reserve of 68 hours that's totally in tune with the times. One more cool note: This is a 14k gold example, usually found in the States (as opposed to the more common 18k) to lessen import taxes. It's estimated that only about 3,000 6241s were ever produced, only about 300 of those in gold, and a small subset of those had JPS dials.

As a market trend, watching the military link niche has always been compelling. As more Rolex Mil-Subs, Mil-Spec Omega Seamaster 300s, and Marine National Tudor Submariners hammer at auction, the middle of this market becomes all the more intriguing. Those well-known link military watches are one thing but I see some collectors wary of dipping their toes into a vintage niche where knowledge and expertise are immensely important yet difficult to link obtain. Fakes are out there.
