The hour hand can be set ahead or back in one-hour increments, with the two pushers set into the left-hand side of the case. The date is read off the fixed month ring, from a small white triangular hand, pointing inward.But these are small gripes because ultimately, this is meant to be a classy, throwback, Mad Men-style dress watch – an office watch. Who needs lume under the bright fluorescent bulbs of a 1960s Madison Avenue office?The Movado Calendograph is offered at a fixed price of 150,000 GBP and remains available to "add to basket." As an unabashed vintage Movado lover, I can admit there is some sticker shock here, but in comparison to Lemania, it might be reasonable. The provenance is even stronger. I spent about an hour with it preparing to link write this story, but I would absolutely love to experience the Santos de Cartier SkeleThe ADLC-coated stainless steel is quite a bit more scratch resistant than your standard PVD, and the watch is water resistant to 100 meters. All of the DNA you expect from the new-generation Santos is there – the square case with screw-mounted bezel, the fantastic new QuickSwitch strap and bracelet system, the crown with Cartier cabochon – but the effect is so much sleeker than the models we saw last year.Which pretty much sums up the Baltic aesthetic. It's a vibe. Sure, it's giving off vintage Daytona in some respects, but it also bears the design code of Baltic itself, with details like the large applied 12 numeral up top. Things like the small lume plots on the dial periphery, in lieu of luming the markers, just brings the whole vintage-inspired package together.
