Speedmaster Mark SeriesAlthough the demand for the Speedmaster Professional or pre-Professional (any reference number) is much higher than the demand for these Mark-series, the Mark V is one that - if you run across one - you definitely should consider if you're a Speedmaster collector or link enthusiast.The world map motif is carved in anthracite grey, which plays nicely against the blue dial. The world timer flange indicates 24 world time zones and their 24 principal cities. The hour and minute hands and index hour markers are filled with luminescent material and are colored in white to allow for legibility against the darker dial beneath. The hands themselves are rose-gold plated. The FC-718 movement is decorated with perlage, which is visible through a sapphire crystal display caseback.A few hours after the Biver bombshell, Gregory Pons of Business Montres followed up with a brief report (paywall warning) stating that a trademark had officially been filed for the JC Biver brand, as well as for a logo that Pons cites as "not definitive."You might know where I come down on these watches – or at least part of my thoughts. That's a column-wheel, vertical clutch chronograph that's been a mainstay of the brand, modified for the dial and date layout of the new Dato watch.
