For this version, which is limited to just eight pieces, new finishes adorn the functions link and complications. The Tissot PRX UFO Robot Grendizer landed on my desk, and that was some sort of miracle. Also, the Laureato has such a balanced design that it’s easy on the eye.At this point in the collection, the reality is I have everything I "need." In real life I have four watches so, even in an imaginary collection, I like to keep things really tight. I have my sport watches covered and I have really pushed myself to imagine how many times I would wear these two yellow gold "dress" watches – something I have very little experience doing. Bottom line is I would be very excited to go into my watch box every morning and pick one of the four options above.
Upon seeing it, I knew this was the Alpine Eagle for me…or, rather, the perfect dial design for me.From a distance, the polished hands and pointed hour indices look simple. The easiest way to spot the difference between both Belfort link watches is the bracelets. Rather than the jubilee, this one has larger links with a polished center section. As Griffon recalls, the TAG Heuer watches sat in a safe in his prop trailer for nearly a year after filming wrapped until Paramount called, needing them for photoshoots (the gold-plated TAG Heuer 1000 appears so clearly in the film's theatrical poster that you can read the brand on the dial). So why did the two Omega watches still make it into the film despite the anti-placement stance? "Milena used them because she just liked them. Wes didn't care at this moment because it was not like we were seeing the watches, really. It didn't feel like a placement, it wasn't enough to meet placement standards."
I know, I know; these voids only exist in my head, but they are very real to me, okay? Get off my case, will ya? What's most interesting is even though the role of the watch has shifted from a necessary to romanticized accessory, the positioning as the perfect companion for a proper adventure hasn't changed much. Tool watches, and even one fashion watch, in this case, help us imagine ourselves as the swashbuckling and suave person that's ready to take on anything – with the right watch strapped on, of course. That's about $1,675 dollars at the exchange rate current to when this story was published. That number puts the Serica 8315 in something of a weird placement for those who may be cross-shopping various GMT options under $2,500. These days, you can get a solid Caller GMT from Seiko for a little under $500, or a Flyer GMT from Bulova for less than $1,000. Swiss ETA-powered Flyer GMTs like Hodinkee's own collaboration with Mido comes in under $1,400.

Finding good photos of John Glenn wearing watches was especially challenging. More than the other astronauts, he tended to link wear long-sleeve shirts. And while link most people wear their watches with the dial omega moonswatch snoopy atop their wrist, Glenn invariably wore his watch with the dial on the inside of his wrist, offering the public a fine view of the bracelet, but no view of the watch itself.
