Now, I am no apologist for watch thickness, but I do think certain watches are enhanced by a thicker design, whereas making them thinner would take away from the intended effect.Even if it's not for me, I will say this new anniversary edition looks slick. Haberli's design turns the original into something far more cleaned-up, something my imaginary graphic designer friend who likes Soriana couches and rests a spiral ashtray from Alessi on his Metafora coffee table would wear.
The base movement itself is no mechanical wonder. The Landeron 251 is built on top of the basic 248 caliber, which is a movement you don't get very excited about when you find it in any chronograph. But to see a central chrono hand and a minute counter without a pusher completely redefines link the rules.As you can see, Grand Seiko cleverly placed the minute track on the rehaut to create a clean overall look.The case also houses a series of sapphire discs for the time and calendar functions.In pursuit of something to keep his mind engaged and his hands busy, Herring stumbled across watchmaking as a career option and applied to the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative in Odessa, Delaware. HeRoyal Oaks can be placed into a number of different categories – including those that are "Jumbos" and those that are not. And then if you look inside the 50-year history of the two-handed "Jumbo," it can then be divided into references such as the original 5402 and the recently retired 15202. Even within the ref. 5402, things can be further segmented by serial numbers that start with either "A," "B," "C," or "D." But only one watch was owned by the creator himself.
These indications are provided by the FC-391 caliber, a 4hz automatic movement equipped with a rose gold oscillating weight that delivers 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
