Others picked apart the phrasing in the ads, stating that it was montre de pilote de chasse inconsistent with Patek's normal motto.Scroll on for the full breakdown on the vintage team's picks of the week, or hop to the Shop for the full drop. For dad, for yourself, or for anyone in your life, a vintage watch is sure to make an impression and, hopefully, reach that "more than just a thing" status. The movement is 26.2mm by 3.6mm, which allows the noticeably thin case profile. You can see that below. You can also see the case finishing with the chamfered edges on the bottom of the case as well as the top edge. Unsurprisingly, for an extra-thin-movement, the brand had to sacrifice a bit of power reserve, leaving the watch at 40 hours only, and there's no certification of accuracy given. But I wouldn't say any of that is the point.
After visiting Axiom Space, we were off to NASA headquarters in Houston. There, link we toured two Mission Control Centers — one used during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 and that remains intact and the current Mission Control Center. The second is a fixed disk with reeds and three lotus flowers crafted out of embossed and enameled gold. However, the Multifort 8 isn't presented as a single-purpose dive watch.
The raised link chapter ring nicely takes over from the hobnails, and the applied indexes are exactly the right size, just like the GP logo at 12.On the black dial, these indices sit within an elegant white minute track. It may not have been a standard size in the 1980s when this watch hit the market, but today it is much more common. But despite the modern sizing and the popularity of the brand in general, collectors can still find solid value in APs such as this – a solid 18k yellow-gold chronograph, let alone one of the most historic and in-demand watchmakers to ever exist – for $11,000. An even loosely similar example from Patek Philippe would start at four times the price, or more.

Whatever the real story, a Space-Dweller 1016 sold for $190,500 at Phillips, scandinavisch horloge merk making it the most expensive 1016 ever. It passes the last Space-Dweller to appear at auction (~$136,000 in 2020) and the albino 1016 (CHF 101,600 in May 2023). Similar to those link albino dials I wrote about, it's link an equally interesting and dangerous area of vintage Rolex.
