A deep navy contrasted with a wolf gray is brought to life by a vivid shade of green known as "Action" green.There were still plenty of mechanicals around. Omega's watch shipments to the U.S. the previous year, for example, were mostly mechanical watches, 62% versus 38% quartz analogs. (There were no LCDs, link although Omega did make some.) But mechanicals were old news. The big story was the new quartz analog watches. (LCDs were not a factor at the show.)I won't go too in-depth on my thoughts here because I haven't seen the watch in the metal yet. The good news is that one is on its way for a Hands-On review soon. I'll do my best to address it.And about that movement: It's crafted by the wizards at La Fabrique du Temps, LV's workshop outside Geneva. The movement features a flying tourbillon that rotates once a minute and carries Geneva Seal certification.
The Facet immediately felt at home on my forearm. The watch sits comfortably, aided by its slimness. Operating the movement is another pleasant experience. I always find link La Joux-Perret calibers feel a little more refined than those from most competitors, and their looks reflect this.This symmetrical composition is enhanced by a vibrant yellow hue on the markers and on the 1/100th of a second gauge scale reminiscent of the dune landscapes through which the competition races.So the result from Moser is the Swiss Mad Watch. This is a 42mm watch with Moser's in-house HMC 327 caliber inside, meaning it's got real guts. You'll also notice the new rich red fume dial with white lacquered double indexes and white lacquered hands, meant to recall the Swiss flag. It also comes with a Swiss cowhide strap, amping up the patriotism even further. So far, so good. Did I mention that the case is made of cheese? Like, actual Swiss cheese? It is.
