The in-house typography is a dream and the execution is just top drawer.Lots 56012 and 56013 are again arguably not escapement models, but clocks. These are not just any desk clocks though – they feature carrousel mechanisms and spring link detent escapements. I knew it because my dad had one just like it, and I had been obsessed with it since childhood. I have vivid memories of my father and his Submariner, a matte dial 5513 from 1982. I would gaze at the watch on his wrist, the white from those circles and rectangles and the triangle at the top always caught my eye. When he would take it off, I would put it on. I knew Rolex from a young age, and I knew from that watch. When Patek's president Henri Stern founded the company's electronics division in 1948, he saw the technological potential of quartz watchmaking and, in typical Patek style, set out to master it. Patek quickly achieved world firsts – the first electronic clock without contacts or moving parts in 1952, the first fully electronic timekeeper (a whopping two by four feet) in 1956, and the world's first miniaturized quartz chronometer in 1958.

The Khaki Pilot Pioneer is powered by the H-50 movement (a modified version of the ETA 2801-2), which features hacking seconds and a power reserve of 80 hours.Sometimes, you know full well that something is on its way, and yet you're still completely and utterly shocked when it actually arrives. Today, Bulgari is launching multiple iterations of the Serpetnti Tubogas and Serpenti Seduttori with, drumroll please... teeny tiny automatic mechanical movements! Oh to be a woman in watch media who is finally getting exactly what she has been asking for.

It was a link primarily younger, male clientele that link had to have it now, and they couldn't care less about the tradition, Reardon says. "It was money, power, immediacy. That theme permeated over the past 10 years, where if you want a link Nautilus, you're going to get one, no matter the cost."
