Certina's CEO Marc Aellen said that some "tens of thousands" of people participated in the competition, and though he admitted that the watch's commercial success remains to be seen, "The response was positive and attracted a lot of interest," he says. "It's important for a brand like link us to engage with our community and I think we will do it again." He, too, was surprised by the final design. "I thought it would be a lighter color, like white – and link go link in that direction."
