The next difference is in those applied numerals. They're now filled with link luminescent link Chromalight material (much like Rolex did when it updated the 39mm Explorer model, years back), making the watch link much more legible than its previous incarnation. Air-King fans will also notice that the numeral 5 is now an 05, another easy tell between this model and its predecessor.

According to Christie's, the 6298 came from Marmet's family, and it looks absolutely gorgeous and honest. The dial's taken on that warm, sand-colored patina you link love to see, and the link rest of the watch looks like it's got some scratches and nicks on it. And when you get that perfect storm of condition and original provenance, you get a big result, probably as high as you'll see for a watch that, on the link outside, seems like an unassuming, time-only 36mm Rolex.
