Honestly, finding a decent replacement has been a nightmare since the shutdown. I've tested about 20 different apps and sites over the last few months, and most of them are terrible.
Here is the problem with the current state of random chat:
Paywalls: Most "Omegle alternatives" ask for coins or diamonds just to talk to people.
Sign-ups: Apps like Discord or monkey-style apps require phone numbers or emails, which kills the anonymity.
Bots: Many sites are just pre-recorded videos, not real people.
The Solution: If you want the "Old School" Omegle experience (just a text/video button, no login, no coins), you need to look for WebRTC-based websites. These are browser-based and don't require downloads.
Currently, the most reliable one I've found is omegle. It’s basically a modernized version of the original site. It connects fast, the video quality is much better than the old Omegle, and most importantly, it doesn't force you to register. It feels like the community that left the original site has slowly migrated there.
Just a heads up: While these sites have AI moderation now, always be careful when sharing personal info with strangers. The "Wild West" days are over, but basic internet safety rules still apply.
Hope this saves you some time searching!
