Hi everyone,
I’m planning a solo flight for my 10-year-old, and I’m looking into the Qantas Unaccompanied Minor service. I wanted to share some key details and tips I found helpful:
Age Limits: 5–14 years for domestic flights and 5–15 years for international flights. Kids outside this range may need alternative arrangements.
Booking: The service must be booked in advance—at least 24 hours before departure. You can call +1-877-593-4887 to arrange it.
Supervision Fee: There’s a fee for the service, which covers airport escort and in-flight supervision. It ranges between $150–$300 AUD depending on the flight.
Documentation: Bring your child’s birth certificate, consent forms, and passport if flying internationally.
Pickup/Drop-off: Only authorized adults can drop off and pick up the child, and changes must be notified to Qantas ahead of time.
Tips for parents:
Explain the process to your child to reduce anxiety.
Pack snacks, entertainment, and comfort items for the flight.
Arrive at the airport early to allow time for check-in and briefing with Qantas staff.
Keep your phone accessible—Qantas staff can provide updates if needed.
Has anyone else used this service before? How was your experience with the supervision and handover process?
