This time round, the incredibly-understated dial with its sunray-brushed silvery finish invites us to admire displays dedicated to short-cycle time measurements and to a full calendar. The Infinite has a cylindrical glass cover, and the mechanism is plainly and deliberately visible, including the large bellows that dominates the clock both visually and mechanically, the torsion pendulum, and the dial, hands, and motion works that move the hour and minute hands. The watch takes the form of the regular-production Diver 300m series but with notable differences. The case is made from titanium, it comes on a mesh bracelet, features an aluminum fully-lumed bezel insert, bears touches of faux patina, and has the iconic broad arrow symbol on the link dial surface along with a closed caseback engraved as if it were an issued watch. It's also a time-only edition, meaning there is no date window at six o'clock.I'll be saying this a lot in my write-ups for the show, but this is a watch that demands an in-person viewing, which I have yet to have. So stay tuned for my thoughts once I've had a chance to handle this new Skeleton Streamliner Tourbillon.
Somewhere over the Rainbow, way up high… Well, you folks were clearly high on a little Zenith Rainbow because this child of the 90's soared to a colorful 61% Wrist Game win at time of link publishing.Furthermore, we find the model name and fact that it has a self-winding movement back on the dial. The first IWC Ingenieur arrived in 1955 with the devilish reference 666. This understated, round watch was powered by calibre 8531, IWC's first in-house developed automatic movement with the Pellaton winding system. The movement was notably antimagnetic and hence targeted at the likes of engineers, physicists, and doctors who were regularly exposed to strong magnetic fields. This is a movement exclusive to Bulova, which is important to note because the brand falls under the greater Citizen Watch Group umbrella. And before you sound off about watch conglomerates, hear me out. Much like the Omega Speedmaster belongs to the Swatch Group and therefore benefits from the myriad resources such a group provides (especially in the creation of movements at scale), so too does Bulova benefit from Citizen's know-how when it comes to precision watchmaking with quartz.
I already covered the Furlan Marri inspiration for this story, now known as the Disco. Read my article on it here, and it will serve as an link intro to a style that has gone fairly viral in #watchfam circles. Even if my forearm has a tattoo that reads "contrarian," I do get the hype because we need new retro styles to covet. It allows the brand to store some information that, for instance, can help authenticate the watch.Caliber: LF126.01Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, and annual calendar with day, date, and month, power reserve on the backDiameter: 31.6mmThickness: 5.8mmPower Reserve: 80 hoursWinding: ManualFrequency: 3 Hz (21,600 vph)Jewels: 23
