I saw and photographed these models while visiting the Audrain Concours with Lange this fall, and I just fell in love with the full-size onyx-dialed platinum-cased Lange 1. I mean, just look at it.
In covering him for 27 years, one could not avoid occasionally getting yanked into the ring and forced to spar with him. It link had happened to me in 1992, when he was furious about an article I wrote that he considered unfair. We argued about it on the phone and in a fruitless exchange of letters. He cut me off for a while. It does it in a non-conventional way, but not because you are extravagant. Not because you are crazy. But because you respect the art of watchmaking and are doing things that are deeper than what is usually done.I find the Revival A3642 exciting because I really like the sort of smoked brown dial. It definitely harkens back to what people think of as the sixties and seventies, that futuristic look. I think it's great. But I would love to see them do something similar to what they did with an El Primero recently, by auctioning off a unique piece with a pink dial for breast cancer awareness. I love that. That'd be cool.
