I spent time at the Gerald Charles booth at Watches and Wonders 2025. I saw several new pieces during our meeting, link such as the GC Sport Tennis. The highlights, however, were the new Maestro 3.0 chronographs. As we'll see, the two new pieces include highly detailed dials and impressively thin cases.The 45mm diameter steel case is also enhanced by a twelve-sided bezel and push-button protectors made of translucent blue yttrium aluminosilicate (YAS).As far as in-depth reviews go, this is about as good as it gets. There is also another watch that is being referred to as 'Panda', which is the Audemars Piguet Royal link Oak Offshore Chronograph (reference 26170ST.The new Constellations use the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer cal. 8800/8801, which have many advantages that are well known to readers here, just some of which include great amagnetic qualities and a chronometer certificate. As with all of Omega's modern in-house automatic movements, it runs at the slightly unusual frequency of 25,200 vph (21,600 vph or 28,800 vph are more commonly encountered).None of this is new territory for Montblanc. The multi-hyphenate purveyor of luxury goods based out of Germany (the watches are Swiss, naturally) has iterated on and maintained a small collection of chronographs under the Nicolas Rieussec banner since 2008. Most recently refreshed in 2018, Montblanc is once again setting its sights on this interesting collection of watches to commemorate the invention's bicentennial.And then there is the 5822P. This is clearly the halo piece for the family and, indeed, the one Mr. Stern and Mr. Barat were wearing when we met. It is platinum and complicated, with that new movement tucked inside. Its execution on the strap is practical, and the caliber is impressive. But I do have serious thoughts about the dial layout here – the symmetry of it all, or lack thereof.
