Openworked to form the skeleton of a large, stylized star and curved with faceted hour-markers, it houses two large, rhodium-plated, luminescent central hands to display the hours and minutes, link while the 1/10th of a second scrolls in an azure counter at 6 o'clock.Belgian comics artist Philippe Francq (1961) also received praise and awards with his Largo Winch series of comic books.Of the three anniversary models, I expected to like this piece the least, but that wasn't the case. Not bad, right? In my opinion, it’s probablThis is a self-winding chronograph, and yet, you can't see any rotor through the caseback. That's because it's actually on the dial side of the movement. Now, normally it would be impossible to place a rotor on the dial side of a chronograph, because the pivots for the chronograph registers are in the way, but it's possible with caliber AGH-6361 because all the hands are on the same central axis.
RJB: Do you feel it is justified? Is it really THAT collectible? Is it even worth collecting for Speedmaster fans or fans of the Apollo era?The dial keeps the design with the "shark tooth" chronograph scale and integrated pulsometer and tachymeter scales link on its perimeter. It is a heavy bracelet that will definitely add a lot of weight to the whole watch, compared to the 1967 model. Now, we did not get any guidelines other than "vintage" and "under €5K".
While preserving its main technical asset – the link split-time measurements using a single button on the crown – the watch innovates with its rattrapante ("catch-up") function.Brand: Omega Model: Speedmaster 38 C-Axial Chronograph 38mmReference Number: 324.68.38.50.02.003 (Sedna gold/brown with diamonds), 324.63.38.50.02.003 (Sedna gold/brown), 324.68.38.50.02.004 (yellow gold/green with diamonds), 324.63.38.50.02.004 (yellow gold/green) Diameter: 38mmCase Material: Sedna pink gold or yellow goldDial Color: SilverWater Resistance: 100 metersStrap/Bracelet: Taupe leather strap for Sedna gold versions, green leather strap for yellow gold versions.Note the alpha hands, the smaller diameter, the absence of the bracelet entirely in favor of a leather strap. This watch is a faithful homage to the ref. CK2998 worn by Astronaut Wally Schirra in 1962 during the Mercury program's Sigma 7 mission, making it the first Omega to leave the planet and an important bridge to Omega's participation in the lunar landing in 1969.Of course I'll bring things back down to earth and focus on a regular production Tudor – the Black Bay Ceramic with METAS certified MT5602-1U caliber. The finishing on both watches is quite similar. If anything, this is the exact kind of movement that I want to be celebrated. It may not be "pretty," but Tudor saw fit to give a similar black-on-black finish to the rest of the watch, and even decorated the rotor to boot. It's part of the watch – there's symbiosis. You might even call it art. I do.
