The result? The golden yellow at the center flows over the contours blending into an orange-red before turning carmine red and black at the edge link of the domed dial.Discover more about the history of the Carrera on the occasion of its 55th birthday. This means folks who have not owned one of their cameras. This I find to be remarkable, and it also means that this LE represents about 10% of the annual production of the ZM 1 and 2 lineup. Talk about preaching to the choir.
And apart from the mesmerizing foudroyante blitzing around on the spinning tourbillon, the detailing of the watch is very introverted. The platinum Tourbillon à Remontoir d’egalite – proudly showing 1/20 in its dial – is carrying an estimate of CHF 300,000 - 600,000. Next, we have the platinum and pink gold Chronomètre à Resonance with an estimate of CHF 200,000 - 400,000. The Octa Reserve de Marche at CHF 50,000 link – 100,00. Then my personal favorite of the five, the jaw-dropping Octa Chronographe is projected to sell for CHF 100,000 to 200,000. And finally, the gorgeous Octa Calendrier is predicted at CHF 80,000 – 160,000.At first glance, to me at least, it was just another one of those obscure-looking pieces that constantly pop up on my Instagram "explore" page. Patek does not make reactive short-term decisions. I speculate that this decision was made pre-pandemic when an important innovation was in the works, or possibly a shift in supply chain, that will fundamentally mark the end of one era and the beginning of a new era.The movement is deceptively simple on the back, but – again, judging only by pictures – the movement finishing is also great on the backside. The movement is manually wound with 55 hours of power reserve. It is cased in stainless steel (the shape of which is reminiscent of F.P. Journe's watches) and measures 40mm by 11mm thick. Again, you shouldn't put a price on good handwork, but if you have to, in this case, the watch runs CHF 76,900.
