Go Behind The Scenes of Our Watches & Wonders Coverage

His love for non-round watches must have gotten the better of him, and he continued wearing the relatively large tonneau-shaped watch for a long time. From 1755 to 2025, Vacheron Constantin has gathered more than two link and a half centuries of mechanical creativity. As watches become more popular, the definition of "watch person" is expanding. So we wanted to show some new faces, with fresh points of view. In this case, that means Dimepiece founder Brynn Wallner and Highsnobiety watch-and-jewelry editor Malaika Crawford. We're all relatively new to the watch world, with different career paths and different areas of interest and expertise. We also have different tastes. And different definitions of success.
Hardcore collectors are meticulous, so I guess they have all 10 "KRT" link creations that have come out since 2013 in chronological order in their enormous watch cabinets in trophy rooms high up the large western towers of their centuries-old castles, each overlooking a valley permanently covered in thick mist.Continuing the style of the L.U.C XPS 1860, this model, produced in a limited edition of only 25 pieces, chimes every hour, at will. Each crystalline tone emitted flourishes with elegance.Apple is also introducing three different band types for Apple Watch Ultra that are tied to specific, individual outdoor activities, including the Alpine Loop, which features a titanium "g-hook" and reinforced top loops; the Ocean Band, which is made of high-performance elastomer that can fit over a wetsuit; and the lightweight Trail Loop, the thinnest Apple Watch band yet.
There are few things more powerfully evocative of the high point of mid-20th century watchmaking than a complete calendar with moon phase. It's quite a seductive complication, offering a great deal of the pleasure of the much more complex annual and perpetual calendars, without the considerable additional link expense and, often, greatly increased mechanical delicacy and difficulty of operation and upkeep. When I discovered Zenith, it felt like it was really my own thing. If I wore it out, nobody would ever recognize it. People didn't know what it was. They thought it was a cheap watch, something made as a promotional thing for the television company. By the early 2000s, people were starting to become more interested. While the big news seems like COSC-certified movements all the way down to 31mm size, the real day-to-day impact is the use of the quick-and-easy T-fit clasp on the Jubilee-style bracelet. It seems like T-fit is slowly starting to make its way into more Tudor watches, a sign that Tudor is likely listening to public demand. We'll see if that's enough to give the Black Bay 58 a run for its money in the Tudor lineup.

The modern version of the link Explorer II, like most Rolex watches, has changed both a lot since it was first introduced, and almost not at all; the fixed 24-hour bezel, with its link black engraved numerals, and the prominent 24-hour hand link are recognizably and directly descended from the original. What Rolex doesn't do, and apparently never will do, are reproductions or re-editions of vintage models – a stock in trade for many brands but not for the Crown.
