Four New Watches From Grand Seiko And Seiko

Bain is also a name you've probably heard of before. He has an uncanny ability to source the hard-to-get stuff and he's popular among retailers, too, often supplying them with watches to sell. Bain occasionally pens a piece on his site that offers a rare POV from a big-name dealer about the "industry" side of the link business. Take this essay on the "Newman Effect" and you'll see another perspective, one you might not see on HODINKEE.Likewise, all three versions use the same movement, a Sellita SW210-1, a Swiss automatic that offers 42 hours of power reserve and ticks at 4 Hz. Also shared among the three new Mercis is an included black NATO strap with brushed steel hardware. You'll notice that both of these books are in Italian. Bedini, though from Connecticut, certainly collected many books in Italian, and I took the opportunity of the book sale to enhance our relatively slim collections in that language (we have far more in German and French). Aside from the bookplates, some of the books show other marks of Bedini's usage and indications of his interest.
Orange is the Professional, silver is the Searambler, the yellow one is the Divingstar, while the black one is Sharkhunter. The movement powering the EZM 1.1 Mission link Timer is the SZ01, which is a modified Valjoux 7750 that has a 60-minute stop function that sits on the watch’s central axis, allowing at-a-glance reading of the entire elapsed mission time—both minutes and seconds. the movement runs in 28 jewels, is anti-magnetic and shock resistant to DIN standards, and has a 42-hour power reserve. Finally, we get to the Oceanographer's calling card – its unique dial design that features the distinctive and loveable three-dimensional cylindrical hour markers. When you mention this model, it's the first thing I think of and is as much a signature design element as it is part of the Oceanograph's vintage inspiration.
The dial manufactury in PforzheimThe link folks behind the company are proud of what the Czechoslovak Republic once was known for and are eager to show the world that the traditional skills and "golden hands" still exist.Plus, it’s simple enough that it can handle duty in certain business environments. What’s so special about this piece, and much of the Cartier lineup in general, is the resemblance it bears to the original Santos from the early 1910s. Its a design so pure and iconic that even after the passing of five decades, and now a century, the overall aesthetic remains largely unchanged. That’s the power of great design.Just down the coast in Los Angeles, Wanna Buy A Watch is offering this example of the Santos for $4,500. Click here to see the full listing.
