I don't write about food except incidentally (although I read food writers inordinately; M.F.K. Fisher's books kept me grounded when I was a young, very angry link kid living through a chaotic childhood in the 1960s and 1970s) but I think watches offer some of the same solace. I submit, for instance, and for your consideration, the Omega Speedmaster Professional, which was my first link good Swiss watch and link one which I'd wanted to own since the Apollo era.
