Is Dementia or Alzheimers considered a disease?

Yes. My Daddy passed away from Alzheimer Disease two years ago today. Look on the web site for Alzheimer Disease and it will explain a lot of things about this disease.

I am thinking off the top of my head about Dementia. It can be the beginning/onset of Alzheimer Disease. I believe I am correct although that a person can have Dementia and it not develop into Alzheimer. It would be good to also look this up on the web.
