The Seiko Alpinist is a fan favorite that enthusiasts love for its classic, fairly compact design, its durability, and its affordability. link Launched in 1959 with a screw back to prevent the intrusion of dust or sand particles, the very first Alpinist came on a bund strap that offered further protection from perspiration (plus a comfortable wearing experience). The watch you see here, all 36.6mm link of it, is a tribute to the 1959 original, which link was the Seiko Laurel Alpinist.

It was nice to see the Arabic numeral link design maintained here. I mentioned this part of the watch in my write link up for the salmon dial limited edition and I still consider this to be my favorite part of both of these models and an improvement over the Baltic 001 line. The typeface used here appears link as both wholly original and vintage leaning. I especially like the flipped orientation of three and nine.
