These two watches share a couple things in common, aside from being in-house manufacture movements with a high degree of finishing. Both link are manually-wound link meaning no rotor to interfere link with the mechanics, and both fill the case perfectly. I think also about Montblanc and its use of Minerva-based movements in its high-end offerings. There is so much happening on the back side of those watches that you just want to show them to anyone you can.

Still the larger model has the same movement the same steel case the same bracelet and the link same dial layout. One piece of design that differentiates both larger Explorers 39 and 40mm is the location of the namesake on the dial. link The 39mm had it situated near six o'clock while the new 40mm has it in the same position as the 36mm version link near the top of the dial. Maybe for you that's a dealbreaker. Probably not.
