Plus, call me old-fashioned, but I appreciate that you get a physical object to go with your digital one.Once the need for a second time-zone has ceased, a rose-gold pusher that's part of the three o'clock crown will return the white gold hour hand back to its original position, set co-axially on top of the rose-gold hand. All you need to do is press this pusher and watch as the silver-toned hand flies around the dial and the rose gold hand suddenly disappears beneath it.And that's also not to say there's no historical justification for the sizing: The large Tank Americaine is about the size of a large vintage Tank Cintree, and the small version is about the same size as the mid-sized vintage model. If the Americaine is supposed to reference the vintage Cintree, it seems Cartier's getting literal with its sizing too, and I can't knock it too much for that.
I also love the flower pattern of the guilloche on the dial. It looks so complex up close but quite graceful from a little further away. I also appreciate that there aren't many decorations on the dial other than the guilloche ring between the hour and minute tracks. That way, the dial is truly all about that beautiful pattern at the heart of it.The beauty, however, did not lie only in the movement but also in the watch's complications and dial design.One crown is for winding the movement, and the other is for setting the time.My own wrist misgivings aside, the 600T is being offered in four different references for the Whitepearl, in which you can have the steel bezel (as seen here) on either an FKM rubber IWC Da Vinci strap or a full steel bracelet, or you can opt for a white ceramic bezel on either of the same mounts. Measuring 42.5 x 44.5 x 13.65, pricing starts at $1,450 and the 600T has 600 meters of water-resistance and uses a Sellita SW200-1 with a date at three o'clock.Oh, it seems like it needs a new battery, the sales associate said, not knowing that the manual wind movement actually just needed a few turns, which, to be fair, I soon learned was quite difficult to do thanks to the Santos-Dumont's terribly teeny crown.At 37mm in diameter with a couple of different dial layouts to choose from, I think there is a lot to like here with the 5134. I am partial to those made for Gubelin with applied "stick" hour markers but they do trade at a bit of a premium over the slightly under $20k of a standard 5134.
