Themselves made in gold, the moons measure 11.2 mm each and nep acne studios are casts of the original hand-sculpted model used in the HM Perpetual Moon.The comparison to bird watching is an apt one. Some birders may go out to only look for a bald eagle or great horned owl and walk right past something a little more subtle, perhaps humbler in the undergrowth. But sometimes it’s the drab birds that have the sweetest songs.Apart from the EP40 that you’ll find beneath the stainless steel caseback, my favourite details on this piece are the typefaces found on the dial, which are decidedly modern for a watch of this age, and wouldn't look out of place on a modern offering. The new version is in Hublot's Magic Gold, which is a proprietary alloy made of a combination of ceramic and gold.For F.A. Lange and his descendants, today's A. Lange & Söhne watches are a monument to their personal history; a captive witness to their life's work. So when A. Lange & Söhne calls this watch an homage to its founder, there's a reason for it. It's a celebration of time passed; a contemporary cenotaph for the wrist.A recent visit to the r/rolex subthread on Reddit clarified the division. The "Show Me Your Swag! post pictured below led to 99 comments ranging from, "I've sold all my swag online to the hype boys. Easy $$," to "Have you ever tried the cologne? Just wondering what it's like. I know sensory descriptors online aren't the easiest to input." It made for a pretty entertaining read.
As anyone replia Luxusuhren who's been lucky enough to visit Audemars Piguet at home in Le Brassus knows, the Museum is an incredible treasure trove of AP timepieces, as well as watches made by members of the founding families which pre-date the actual establishment of the firm. It's also hard to visit the museum without feeling that a little more light and space might present the wonderful collections in a better light (to make a feeble pun).For all its greater refinement, this is still a watch, once you get it on, that calls for some time in the field and I hope at least some of these get out there and get wet and dirty; they're built for it, after all. As wonderful as SLA033 is as an exercise in nostalgia, and while it's impossible to see it and not think of its (comparatively) cheap and cheerful predecessor, it also stands on its own as an extremely well-made modern sports watch.The regular production models include a ceramic bezel, with a laser-etched wave motif dial. That's where this special Bond piece diverges. Here we find a dark brown aluminum bezel, with a flat brown dial. The markers have a faux-aged appearance and the dial includes the old "dirty dozen"- esque British government property broad arrow symbol. You can have yours fitted either to a vintage-evocative Milanese bracelet or a NATO-style strap.This is the kind of watch I see and immediately think, "Yes, this is why I love a nice vintage watch." There are current re-editions of the various Constellations, but no matter how hard we try, this is the sort of watch that a modern production piece cannot simply replicate. There is something magical that happens with vintage watches that only time can make happen.
