Depends what area you are in? If you are looking for new vehicles many times a larger dealer will give you a better price, being that they buy in bulk and may get a better price from the factory. Also, when a dealer sell a lot of vehicles they don't mind parting with them on a lower profit margin.

I'm not saying that you won't find a better deal at a small dealer, but a good way is to play the dealers against each other by shopping around. When you get quotes from two or three write the price on the back of the salesman's business card, then go to another dealer and ask them to beat the price, continue the process until you get down to the dealer cost or below dealer cost, then pick which one you want.

Never ever, ever, go with the first price you get from a car dealership, you will loose every time.
