JDB, I finally heard back from the head of the tech team today, he's been on vacation.
He has an akaQA account. He clicked on his personal profile page and changed his avatar without experiencing any hiccups.
JDB, do you by chance have A Mac? Julie has a Mac computer and her avatar kept disappearing/changing. I'm certain there was another member here a few years back who had a Mac computer and his avatar kept changing too.

Members and moderators on akaQA don't know why your avatar picture has changed or why a new picture won't upload to this site.
I will also send a notice to the tech team today and ask them if there is a "glitch" and if they can fix it so you can upload a new picture.
