    Please give me your best....

lettuce salad recipe. I would like your favorite lettuce(s), items that you add and the (homemade) dressing that you use, if you make it yourself.

I do make salads but I often think that they are not as good as they could be. Thanks, Ducky.

I like a wedge salad. Cut and wash a wedge of iceberg lettuce. Add cherry/grape tomatoes, chives, hard boiled egg, bacon bits, crumbled bleu cheese. Dress with Ranch, Bleu cheese, or Champagne vinegrette.

Also tasty is a spring mix with dried cranberries, candied walnuts, chopped red onion, crumbled bleu cheese, and that vinegrette.

I really like the sound of the second one (especially) except for the bleu cheese but I can substitute that ingredient. Thanks Bob.

I really like broccoli salad for a pot luck. My 6 year old grandson is a fan. :)

This is a never fail party salad. In my family we just ate it up without sharing. Had to dig but here it is:

in a large, straight sided bowl, clear

Layer one torn up pieces of fresh spinach (10 oz bag) salt and pepper to taste

    6 hard boiled eggs chopped

    1/2 pound of julianned ham

one small head of iceberg lettuce, torn small

    salt and pepper again

1 pack of thawed frozen peas

1 thin thin sliced red onion

top with mixed 1 cup mayo and 1 small sour cream

    1/2 pound shredded swiss cheese

    1/2 pound crumbled fried bacon

cover and refrigerate for 24 hours

    don’t look for left overs

Wow, that sounds interesting. I'll have to substitute a couple of items but I'll try it for sure. Thanks jh.

Mayo, sour cream and swiss cheese. It can be done successfully.

Oh, no! Those are what makes the salad! You’ll be making something else entirely. Plagiarism!

Can't convince a person about eating gluten free and dairy free until they've tasted it. You would not be able to notice any difference. I know that from experience. Very satisfying when people ask for my recipes....and they do!

Well I suppose if you never told me where/what you got the recipe and I tried it blind, I’d probably love it. Knowing the facts, I’d love it reluctantly.....

Yep, you're mind is made up! Like I said, can't convince....until...

Spinach salads are more healthful than lettuce salads, b/c lettuce had no nutrients. It's only good for water and for bulk.

Not necessarily true and even if you believe that, where is your spinach salad recipe? (BTW, have you ever heard of romaine lettuce? Just one example for you to check out.)

I love Romaine lettuce. We had butterhead lettuce on our burgers tonight. Yummy.

Butterhead? Must be called something different here? Maybe I should try "google"?

I know the kind. It's very soft with a mild flavor. Next time in the grocery store, I'll see what we call it.
